rpm's
rpm's
My 96 seems to only hit 2500 rpm's at full acceleration. It has a fuel plate, but seems to be pretty doggy on acceleraton. How can I get my governed rpms to go a little higher? Thanks for any help.
Re:rpm's
You can tighten down the stock springs but that will only give you a few extra r's. Get a gov kit from Piers and be done with it. The 3k is good but I find the 4k a little more fun ;D

Re:rpm's
If you are only making 2,500 rpm, check your flexible fuel lines for air leaks. If they are more than three years old, change them. Also check your prefilter/heater for a plugged screen in the bottom. The bottom unscrews, you will see the hex head on the bottom that needs to be unscrewed to get to the screen.

The other thing to do is to run a tank or two through with injector cleaner. That should clean up the injector nozzles and increase your rpm a bit.

You should easily rev to about 2,650-2,750 if the fuel system is working properly. Once you know your filters and lines are in good shape, you an crank the screw heads on the governor flyweights down two clicks and that will take you to about 3,100 rpm before the governor cuts out. A GSK kit is a better idea, as it includes the proper weight and tension to give improved response and does not overtension the OEM springs.
