Rotating compressor housing?

I wanna make SURE this is a no brainer, just to prevent myself from screwing something up REAL good!

I'm assuming it's OK to loosen the clamp between the turbine side and compressor side of the turbo and rotate the compressor side of the turbo with no ill effects?

Thanks

You may want to spray it down with some penetrating oil for a couple days prior to playing with it. When I Changed my exhaust housing I bet I beat on it for an hour before anything budged. That included soaking it for a few days and also heating and adding more penetrating oil. The cool side finally spun after approx 1/2 hour. After it spit I put a little anti sieze in there hoping that next time it wont be so bad. Good luck.

If you are changing housings sometimes you have to to get the turbo outlet and oil return line to line up correctly.

HAHAHA!

In 'My' case the advantage is hooking up the intercooler!

One of the previous DAPO's decided it would be a good idea to (for whatever reason) route the turbo plumbing as to by-pass the intercooler. And yes, I had the I/C pressure tested. So it just baffles me why they did it. But in doing so I'm realizing that they actually rotated the compressor side of the turbo to ease piping issues. I'm now reversing their procedure, hence the question.

Thanks again for the help everyone.
