Rock 1 vs Truck 0

Well today I decided to go offroading alittle bit and when we were done I looked under the front of my truck and the shock thing that runs parallel with the axle was in 2 pieces. Its the only think in front of the axle that looks like a shock. Is this the steering stabilizer? Does anyone know how much one of these are? It broke right where the bar meets the little cup like design on one side. Are you able to weld those 2 pieces back together?

yes that is the steering stabilizer that ya broke. I have no idea of the price of one but it shouldnt be to much. I dont follow your description for the break other than the mounting eyelet but I wouldnt try to weld it. preasurized gas or oil and heat from welding could be bad news. You may mess up the seal also.

No its on the opposite side from the "shock" part. It is the long lod that goes metal to metal onto the cup thing. The reason I asked if I could weld it is that it looks like it was welded to begin with and I just broke the weld.

you could probably get away with welding then. Go slow so that the heat doesnt build up. you may want to make sure that the rod isnt bent. I think that the shaft is hardened which will make the stabilizer weaker after the repair. Still best to replace it.

They're really cheap. It is just like a shock. I think my buddy just replaced his with a Skyjacker variety for about $40. You'll have more time rolling out the welder, getting, set up, and waiting for the heat to dissipate than you would just to replace it.
