Removing auto trans from engine

What is the procedure for unbolting an automatic trans from a Cummins 5.9? Both units are from a 94 Dodge. How do you access the torque converter bolts in order to remove the tranny and torque converter as a unit? The Haynes manual that I have only illustrates the procedure for a gas engine which has a big access cover to get to the TQ bolts.

Any help greatly appreciated. Randy

On the passenger side of the bell housing, under the truck, engine side, there are two access holes. The lower one has a round plug. This is where the barring tool fits, if you have one, to manually turn over the engine. The other one has a plate cover, held on by two bolts. This is where you remove the converter bolts. Remove the lower inspection cover from the bell housing. Looking frontwards, you will see an arrow stamped into the casting. Turn the engine, with either the barring tool, or a screwdriver as a lever on the ring gear teeth in the lower inspection area, until a converter bolt lines up with this arrow. Now another converter bolt is lined up with the bolt removal hole. There are 6 converter bolts.
Please note, when installing these bolts, install each bolt, one by one, and leave them all loose one turn, until they are all in, then go around and tighten them. Otherwise, all 6 holes never seem to line up perfectly to start all the bolts.
Sorry this response seems wordy, but it will make sense once you start.
