Pump timing
Well, I may have found the reason for a strange vibration. I noticed today that when the converter wasn't in lockup operation, there seemed to be slippage in the tranny. This is a new development..
I checked the fluid, and its quite overfilled - up to the middle of the curvy part of the dipstick - perhaps over a quart. It was slightly bubbly on the dipstick as well.
When I had the rearend oil changed out ~1.5 weeks ago, they replaced the o-ring on the trans dipstick tube. When they did this, they topped off the fluid too. I noticed when they checked it, they did not put it in neutral (was in park) and the truck had been in the bay for about an hour (and only run for 5 min to get it there)(so it was not warm so to speak).
I SHOULD have checked it as soon as I left there, but I figured they knew what they were doing. Just hope my trans isn't fried now as a result of their stupid move.

i have my return line plugged off on my dodge for now because if you let it by-pass through the of valve, it blows so much white smoke its unbelievable, plugged off, its okay, i havent driven it yet, but i will very soon!! i havn't got the pump timed yet, but it starts, idles good, and it skips a little when you nail it to the floor high rpms no load. with white just a little white smoke, i hope a new o.f. valve clears it all up.

i get thw white smoke on cold days in the first 10 sec and i gotta hold the throttle at 1100 rpm for 15 sec before the motor stabilizes...then it never smokes white after its warm...i think that my timing needs a bump for sure..also i havent changed my fuel filter in a year so i think thats a big reason...and the fuel lines are probably letting some air in over night..
i havent heard about this overflow valve before...what is that guys someone teach me...i never thought about giving the overflow valve any thought
