pump swap question

I have a '94 auto with the 160 pump. A buddy works at cummins and has a 5.9 core from a school bus with a 230HP rating. Can I swap this 230HP pump in place of my 160HP pump??? Is this just a simple unbolt and bolt back up or are there other modifications to be done. I havent started to bomb the 5.9 yet but I thought this might be a good time to start if this 230HP pump can be used. Any thoughts????

He is supposed to get me the numbers on the pump sometime today. Are there any specific questions that I should ask him???

Thanks,
Chad

if it is a in line bosch it should be a easy swap, and a good bit more fuel.

Ok the bus engine is rated for 230HP governed at 2300rpms. Just to clairfy both are p7100 pumps. Is this a simple swap??? Do I have to worry about timing?? I could swap out the injectors as well but I thought I would just throw in some 370's. Will this pump be worth the hassle of swapping it out??? Will my truck run alright with the bigger pump?? More smoke?? More power??

Yes you will have to set the timing.
You will also want to mod the pump some, like governor spring kit, etc...
