Ask the pump builder where the pump is pinned at, then you'll know where you're at for the install. 16.5* seems to be the go-to number for a street driven 215 pump. I've got about 17* and am very happy with it.

yes it is a p pump. i took the timing pin out of pump like manual says. turned the pin around and it went in easy. if the pin goes in then is the pump firing on # 1?? just curious. worked on many a rotary pump but i have no idea why bosch didnt key it.

make sure that the engine is #1 at tdc push timing pin in and bar the engine
till the pin pops in thats tdc. the pin on the pump was keeping it at #1 firing.
i usually dont turn the pin around till i put it on. make sure that you use some
brake clean or carb spray on the shaft and hole in gear so it dont slip when you tighten it up good luck only hard thing is having enough room to set the pump i did mine by myself and it sucked i used a cherry picker to hold the pump
