Proper oil level

My sons 94 truck has the HyTech rear end cover on it as does mine. Last weekend, we replaced the axle seals and filled the rear end with new oil on his truck.

The question I have is do you fill the rear end to the oil fill plug or the line on the dip stick on the cover? I can't remember what I did on mine and the dip stick tube is corroded in place on mine.

Seven quarts filled it to the oil opening but it took eight quarts to get it to the top line on the cover dip stick. The rear end is clunking but I ordered some slip additive to cure that.

Thanks, looks like I did it right by filling to the dip stick level.

Thanks, I printed that out and will put a copy in my service manual and printed one for my son too.
