Power steering hoses
Power steering hoses
While replacing my power steering high pressure and low pressure hoses in my 1994 12v the fitting that the high pressure hoses screws into back out. I unscrew fitting and take hose off pump then put on new hose. There is a spring inside fitting. Thought I put it back together correctly. Now I don’t have any steering. Is there a special way I’m supposed to install it? Thanks
I just did my PS/Vacuum pump a few days ago. Mine is 1997, so the pump will a little different, but I dont have any fittings with springs in them. Going by your description, I would guess that the spring is part of a check valve, and that it is what unscrewed from the pump?
If it is a check valve, there should be a ball bearing on one end of that spring. Maybe you dropped when it came apart and the check valve no longer functions properly. Or you installed it backwards and its now blocking the flow of oil.
This is just a guess, not familiar with your pump.
