power steering gears adjustment?

power steering gears adjustment?
is there a way to adjust my power steering box?
i went in for an alignment today, now the third time in two weeks, and they said i now need to replace my camber bushings and my power steering box. i asked them if i could adjust my box and they told me "no" because there is too much wear.
how can i tell if there is "too much wear' and can i adjust the slack out of it? the play in my steering wheel is quite a bit but it doesnt bother me at all.
it will bother if i have to get a new box hahaha
