Power loss 4 months after major truck work week. I'm Stumped.
About 4 months ago was truck work week for me. Over a period of about 3 weeks I put on new: clutch, injectors, lift pump, 4k GSK, 1/2" line from inside the tank to the lift pump, ball joints. I also patched a hole in the tank, and I think I did some other stuff that I don't remember now. Anyway, the idle jumped up to 1,000 rpms and the throttle response was AMAZING! I had to re-learn how to drive touching my pedal so lightly. However, about 2 months ago I began to lose power on the interstate. When I pulled over my idle had dropped to 450-500 rpm. I turned off the truck for a bit and it restarted easily (about 600 rpm) and I drove home. On the way, it began losing power a few more times. I changed the fuel filter as soon as I got back and for the next 2 months I didn't have a power loss issue. However, the idle stayed around 600 rpm, and the truck drove like it did before the major power upgrades. I have since bumped the idle up to 900rpm. Just last week I started losing power repeatedly again (many times on a short trip). It seemed to me like a fuel starvation issue, but the filter is only 2 months old. I left it parked overnight doing nothing and drove it over the next several days with no issue (no extra power either), and just today it started doing it again only once and then it stopped.
If you have any thoughts as to what I need to troubleshoot I'd love to hear them.
I'm a little concerned about my turbo as the EGT seems a little hot. But it could just be my imagination.

One tank of bad fuel can clog the filter in 25 miles.
Only way to be certain about when to change the filter is to use a fuel pressure gauge.
You probably should take a look at the prefilter also> http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/filter/pre-filt_clean.htm
Oops. Forgot to mention I bypassed the fuel heater and screen and deleted the fuel shutoff solenoid. I'll work on the gauge idea today. Wish I could find cheaper options. Cheapest I've seen was Larrybs $85 gauge.
I've been buying fuel from pretty much the same places so I don't think that's the issue.

I have a long bolt going straight into the cab. These problems started before I took off the solenoid though. So I don't think that's it. I check it often and it stays in place.
I bought a psi gauge to put on after the filter. It looks like I'll be using the banjo bolt tap method (which scares me, but oh well).
Thanks for helping me out guys. I really hope I get it figured out soon. I'll post pressure when I get a gauge on there.

Larry B's gauge isn't big enough, it's a 30 psi, you need at least 40, preferably 60 psi.
Any pressure gauge will work. I used one off an old acetylene regulator for years.
Easy to do a fuel pressure gauge for under $25.

Well apparently it's not an issue because I am pushing a whopping 0 psi! I pinched the return line just to make sure the gauge worked and that got it up to around 60psi, but as soon as I let go its 0. I just put a new lift pump. Do you think maybe it went bad or can something else cause the missing pressure? Did I tune up the IP so much that the stock lift can't keep up?? Forgot to also mention I have a 16 degree timing advancement.

Fuel gauge is left, oil pressure right.

Which one should I order? Most of them say not to use with a stock fuel system. Should I be concerned running it with the stock mechanical lift pump?http://www.torkteknology.com/product...-OFV050HP.html
You guys have been so helpful that I'd like to ask another question if that's ok. While I was hooking up gauges I finally hooked up a turbo boost gauge by teeing into the waste gate line. However I'm only getting 5psi even at highway speeds. When I put the petal down it climbs to 8-9psi and the drops quickly. I also tried pinching off the line with a clamp and saw no difference. Is this acceptable? Thanks.

Last night I hooked up the boost gauge the way infidel showed. Driving around town gave me the same reading. I accelerated hard, but could only go 45mph. Never got over 7psi. I'm taking a highway trip later on today, and I'm leaving the wastegate line pinched shut. So we will see what that shows.
