Please help need info on turning up a 12v 5.9
I have a single axle Ford dump truck with a 5.9 12valve in it and i have put dual straights on it would like some info on how to turn some fuel to it and how to get some smoke out of it..???
It really depends on if its a 1st or 2nd gen motor.
If it has a single cover that covers all the valves (2nd gen 12v), then you can adjust the star wheel which is on top of the injector pump under an allen screw cap. You can change/adjust the fuel plate by sliding it forward or backwards and you can slide the afc housing forward as well to increase fuel.

The first pic is a cutaway of the starwheel, you will want to turn it toward the engine with a small scredriver and maybe a hammer to tap it. Whan it gets all the way forward it will stop and the spring will loosen a little bit. That is where you get the most fuel.
My AFC is slid all the way forward and i ground my fuel plate down and slid it forward and adjusted the starwheel all the way forward. It gives me good performance and alot of smoke.
For a (1st gen 12v) it will have 6 individual valve covers. I dont know much about them so you will have to read up.

All this sounds complicated and very time consuming.
The CPL on my truck is 1551 which also says 190hp but in the diagram it shows less for that.
Can anyone tell me if I will need a bigger turbo after turning it up or will the stock one handle it?
Thanks for the links too guys that helps alot

Both first and second gen 12v's have a beauty cover over the 6 valve covers, just depends if the owner keeps it on or not. Mines on a shelf. Pretty sure the beauty cover is just a dodge thing, not on the industrial/commercials that I have seen.
