PacBrake - do I need 60# valve springs?

I have a shot at getting a Pac Brake I just rebuilt (friend had an electrical fire). Anyway the price is right.

Do I have to change my valve springs? If so where is the best place to get them?

Bob

Pac is the only brand where you don't need the exhaust springs.
There is a hole in the butterfly, leave the hole open if you don't change springs.
Plug the hole with a nut and bolt if you do change springs.

More back pressure with the hole closed + 60# springs = the whole reason we have exhaust brakes... To slow down! Why get an EB and then not use it to its full potential?

I run an inline 4" Pac

Very interesting, I wonder if you were getting the right info or their brakes have changed?
Does the butterfly have a hole in it?
Before that was one of Pac's selling points, no messing with springs.

When I installed my BD brake I bought springs from http://www.pdrdiesel.com/index.php?p=home
I did all 12, not just the exhaust, kit came with an installation tool for about $80 in 1996.

The Pac has two holes in the butterfly. Plug one and you need the springs.
