P Pump and Injector swap
P Pump and Injector swap
Well I got part of my pump and injector swap done tonight hopfully I wont wont run into any snags tomorrow. The injector swap went eazy with no problems getting the old ones out (thanks to Bills trick with the short piece of pipe and lug nut puller) and since the injector was out I used a dial indicator in #1 for getting absolute TDC then spent about 2 hrs making a pointer and groving and marking the balancer so I can find TDC in a snap from now on.
Then onto the pump removal, no big issues there and I just finished up swapping my throttle linkage onto the new pump. In the morning I plan on timing the pump and puting it back together, my question is I have read where people have referred to pinning the pump so it stays timed but dont know how they do that. I cannot see anywhere to lock/pin the pump?

there is a big nut on the side, back by the govener. it is about1 and 1/4''s or so. you screw off the cap, and pull the pin out and turn it over and then rotate the pump till the pin drops in. remember to pull it back out and flip it over before you fire it up.
Thanks for the reply gunracer
It sounds like that pins the pump in the factory say 13 degrees so if I wanted to bump it up to 16 it wont do me any good to try and pin it... correct?
