Oil Pump Not Pumping

Got the replacement engine in, and cranked it up; but no oil pressure. We broke teh turbo line loose and it just doesn't seem to be pumping any oil.
I found this thread about priming the pump, https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...light=oil+pump

Anyone have any other ideas?

We will try to inject oil into the turbo lube hose, if that doesn't work, we'll have to pull the pan and check teh pick up tube.

Then, we will have to pull the front of the engine down (again) to pull the pump out.

(I really don't want to have to do that)

Thanks for the post, Oldblues.

Yes, my guys said they filled it (I wasn't there), but I will double check that, they might have not put enough in it.

And yes we removed the filter and the oil level was the same as when it was installed.

The engine had oil pressure in the bus but its sit for 4 months, waiting to be put in the Dodge.

Since the oil pump pick up tube was swapped from the old engine, I think there may be a chance that the gasket wasn't put on, so I'm going to pull the pan and check that.

Any updates on this one? I'm experiencing the same thing with my swap, but I didn't mess with the pump or pickup tube at all. I had the front cover off for the KDP and the pan off to reseal it.

Sounds like the same problem, I took the feed line off at the turbo and after four or five cranks at 7-10 seconds each still wasn't getting oil at the line or any reading at the oil pressure gauge.

Had great oil pressure in the original truck . . . .

Mebbe this dummy coulda clicked on the link at the top of the thread before posting As per instructions, I primed the pump by pouring about 250mL of heavier weight motor oil through the turbo feed line, letting it sit for a couple seconds so I didn't just blow it out the line again, then cranked the engine over while my brother held the line up.

About five seconds of cranking got a steady flow of oil out the feed line, and my oil pressure gauge registered pressure about the same time.

It's all good!!!

For anyone else who's had an engine sitting for a while, you'd be wise to do the priming thing on next startup. Would never have occurred to me, as all the GM engines I've ever worked on will prime just fine on their own.
