I'm currently rebuilding my son's NV4500 5 speed (counter shaft bearing went out) and it has the split nut holding on the 5th gear. I have the tool used to remove it, but my question concerns putting it back on. What is the procedure foe torquing the nut? Is the split nut cross bolt pre-torqued before the nut is torqued on the main shaft, or is it tightened after your have torgued the nut to the mainshaft?
Does anyone have any instructions or point me in the right direction to find some? I would really appreciate it
