I just smoked my nv4500 it started getting loud in higher gears now it clunks real bad. Sounds like bad bearings. How hard are these to rebuild? I've been inside fuller 10 speeds years ago but never any thing smaller. Do I need lots of special tools? Books avalible for these? Or am I better of getting a reman?

 

There have been a ton of posts recently on the 4500- look around and read those. There are some sites linked, and I will include www.standardtransmission.com. Most of them have parts kits, and remans.
