nv241 for 205 swap ?

ok so I'm building a wrangler that has been stretched 21 inches, and is going to be riding on a 95 2500 with a cummins. frame has been choppped 22 inches, and engine moved back 12 inches. i am now starting to get a bit short on driveshaft for the rear. so i'm wondering what would it take to run like a 205 case, that wont have that 8 inch tailshaft on it, or any other direction to shorten things up a bit? help is very much appreciated at this point.

Your better off looking at an Atlas II, or a Stak 4x4 Box... also, what trans are you running, because that'll make a difference.

A 205 is a nice case, but its nothing compared to an Atlas.

yea, my thoughts were to get a ford 205 if i can put on, am i right in sayin they are both 32 spline? as we all try and do, im trying to keep the budget down as much as possible, so im avoiding the atlas transfer case until last resort. currently im running a 47rh thats been rebuilt. ill be getting some pics up soon hopefully.

why? granted if I was doing a lot of crawling I would want those t-case, but if he needs lower gears he can get the lo-max 3:1 gear set and the 205 is about as strong as you can get. he can get an adapter from advanced adapters to fit almost any trans.

Not sure off the top of my head what the spline counts are for the Ford 205's. I do kno that the Chevy version for a TH-400 would be 32. A quick call to advance adapters should take care of you.

And I agree about the Atlas. Unless you NEED the gearing, which you probably won't with the CTD and an auto, you should be plenty good with the basic old 2:1 low range.

I can't believe I just daid that! My Toyota crawler is 10.7:1 low range! Slightly ifferent application, I assume.

Good luck!

Because he said in his top post he needs a SHORT transfer case. And with the output shaft on the 205, its anything but short. I haven't actually measured but I bet an Atlas would save him 5-6 inches to give him better drive line angles. If its just a crawler then don't bother, but good luck passing 30mph without vibrating the joints apart.

I have a few 205s.........I am also going to put a 205 behind the 4500 in my truck. The black case is a Ford driverdrop and the brown one is a Dodge passenger drop 29 spline from behind a Getrag in a '91. I'm stealing the 29sp input from the Dodge case. making it work in the ford case and getting a Advance adapter to bolt it together. I'll go measure it for you but its not exactly long like who said 8" tail shaft?!? .....only if you have a slip yolk and you'll want to get a SYE kit asap if you have on and want to get offroad.

the black case is 13" long from the mount surface to output yolk, but factor in a couple inches for the adapter too. that not that long. a 203 with a slipyolk output is well over 20"
