Now what to do?

Alright, Im gonna play dumb and let you 2nd genners steer me in the right direction. Just got a 95, 5 speed , What needs to be dont to make the fuel system bulletproof? pressure guage? overflow valve? do these have the same lift pump problems as other years? should I replace it with something else?? or just a new stocker? Where are the weak points on these years.
Thank all.

FRom what I have read on here, there are no real weak points besides the fuel lines between the side of the head and the firewall. They are a ***** to change I just did it.Make sure you get diesel rated uscg fuel line.I got mine at a boat parts place but someone here can give you a link to buy a kit.The overflow valve spring can get weak also ,Infidel can give you a link where to get one for a good price.I havent changed mine yet.I dont think there is much trouble at all with the lift pump or injection pump.Thats one of the things that makes these 12 valves so great, almost no fuel problems.

The OF valve is probably the single item the wears out most often on a 12 valve.
Cheapest overflow valve source-
Precision Diesel Injection and Turbo Inc.
Marty Tompkins
888-734-7349
$35 + $5 shipping and handling.
Replacement takes one wrench and five minutes.

If you don't have a gauge symptoms are:
low RPM miss/instability
white smoke
hard starting
engine dies at idle
low power
fuel filter cracking

The fuel hose can be bought here:
http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/
It isn't anything real special but supposed to be the best rubber hose on can get so it'll outlast a cheaper one.

.Isnt the diesel line different than gas fuel line .Im pretty sure if you use gas fuel line the diesel will eat it up or go through it .

Hmm, I don't think that would be a problem if it were able to withstand gas.

The fuel system on a 12 valve is usually fine except for the fuel return line cracking (as mentioned above).

pressure guage? do these have the same lift pump problems as other years?
You can put a fuel guage on to check the pressure, but becuase the 12 valves do not have an electric lift pump, low fuel pressure is rarely an issue.

overflow valve? should I replace it with something else?? or just a new stocker?
The above mentioned is good info.

Where are the weak points on these years.
Thank all.
Have the KDP checked. If your not familiar with the term, do a search for KDP. In short, its a dowel pin used only during manufacturing. This dowel can fall out and can do damage.
Cheap to prevent... very expensive to fix.

Also check HERE for recalls and TSBs for your truck.

The 12V do have a lift pump, its just a mechanical unit. The failure rate is rare to none.

If you haven't already visited it, http://www.dodgeram.org

That will answer your overflow location and others.
