No Power

I got a 1996 12 valve with 180.000 does not have any pulling power any more. I go on ant type of incline and it falls on it face. Any help would be great.

I dont have any gauges in the truck. The fuel filter was changed less than a 1000 miles ago. It still seams to run good. I noticed when the last time I drove the truck it smoked for about 5 min after of driving. It does this when it is really cold out. I think I have read some wear that it could be out of time.

Probably needs a new overflow valve for one thing, and the timing set. Do a search for Marty Tompkins for the overflow valve.

The diaphragm in the wastegate actuator - that small 'can' bolted to the side of the turbo - can rupture, which will bleed-off manifold pressure.

That causes the AFC diaphragm to run at atmospheric pressure, so you get no additional fuel, and no additional manifold pressure, and no additional fuel, and no add......well, you get my drift.

BTW - manifold pressure is what we affectionately term as - Boost.

So - no Boost = no fuel = no power.

Check the system out for leaks - manifold to AFC housing to wg actuator.
