no plate, poor mileage

the truck blew a head gasket. while it was at the shop it told them to check out the fueling and fuel pressure and adjust the timing to 15deg. after doing that, the truck gets lousy mileage. cant tell exactly what i get cause the odometer doesnt work. anyhow, they just took the fuel plate right out. it is now sitting in the compartment on the bottom of the door. would it matter where the star wheel is adjusted to without the plate? I can barely make it blow black smoke. it puts out more white then anything. I think i am just blowing fuel out of the tail pipe. $70 bucks worth of fuel barely lasts 2 weeks just driving around town. It recently just had trans rebuilt with a upgraded T/C and valve body (which rocks!!)

you seem pretty sure about that. maybe ill do a search on slipped timing and see what i find out. its to the point that i just want to get rid of this truck between bad mileage and the repair bills lately.

When I had mine timmed to 15 the milage did not go up much.

Before the timming job it was blowing a lot of white smoke when it was cold. Turned out it was at 8

i have come to the conclusion that they are all fairytails. unless you do the afc mods and put in bigger rack plug.it will never hit the stop pin without the the other mods.

I think im gonna stick the plate back in. Im not to impressed with the performance and it just seems like im just pumping raw fuel out of the tailpipe.
