A good friend of mine picked up a 96 12v with 85K after i showed it to him. I am a first gen guy and know all of those free mods but I am totally unfamiliar with the P pump 12v's.

What are some of the easy/cheap mods we can do.

So far I have only removed the silencer ring.

Also for some reason if you "blap" the thottle at a stop the truck will (on occasion) just load up and stall. The only thing I could think was the fuel filter It is making us kinda nervous but the truck does have a warrenty.

Where is the idle speed set at? If it is too low, it can/will stall.

Gauges first, then free mods.

Slide stock cam plate forward

Slide AFC housing forward

Loosen up the AFC spring (turn top of wheel toward the engine)

 

Also do a search here for Free GSK for the P Pump. It uses a washer to shim each of the governor springs and makes it act like a 3K GSK. Lets it pull to about 3200 RPM. Also bump that timing to 16*. It'll make a LOT of difference in the drivability as well as a 4" exhaust.
