NP241 vs 241HD

howdy. I've finally picked up my Cummins for the swap into my K30... but I need a different Tcase to match my axle.

Question is: can I swap the input out of the 241HD out of the Dodge into the 241 in the Chevy??

I'm a little miffed because that was supposed to be a 29spl one ton but no, it's 23spl, so I don't have a tcase lined up. Grr.

anyway, I await responses with crossed fingers!

I am pretty sure you can. If I remember right, it is a straightforward swap. I tried to replace the one in my dodge with a chevy transfer case that I had laying around. it didn't work, but i got as far as the transfer case wouldn't clock right for me. If you can clock it right, you should be able to make it work.

Good for you on the chevy swap. You take the only engine worth putting in a truck, and put it in the only truck worthy of such an engine.

I was not able to swap the inputs between my two 241's. The HD has a PTO and the 241 or 241LD does not. I ended up using the 241LD from the donor truck.

the other option is to get a dodge np205 from a 89-93 diesel manual tranny truck and the coupler sleeve. it bolts up to the 5 & 6 spds has the 29 spline like you are looking for and is heck for stout. no problems is the correct side output for the chevy front axle. just a thought since thats what we did for a chevy cummins conversion
