I just added 1 quart of the new low ash formula oil today, now leaking profusely from driverside below injector pump, 4 miles total drive time. Anyone encounter this problem yet, and will a fresh oil change back to the old formula fix this problem? 307k miles still running strong.

 

Might be just a coincidence. Might check and see if the plug fell out of the timing case housing where you set the timing gear for the injection pump. Just a thought.

 

CJ-4 is not going to cause massive leaks in 4 miles.

Why were you a quart low?
Check your oil pressure sending unit. They can puke a lot of oil.

 

Agree, nothing liquid added could cause a leak like that in 4 miles.

 

Maybe a vacuum pump seal.

 

Have you fixed the kdp yet. If not look at the gear case under the injecttor pump and check for cracks in the case.

 

What is KDP???

 

Killer Dowel Pin. A nasty little piece of steel that may wiggle out of the front case and drop into the gears.
Damage ranges from nothing to breaking the timing case to snapping a cam shaft.
When it breaks the gear case the first sign is lots of oil washing down the front of the engine and sometimes the driver side under the injection pump.

 

go get yourself some brake kleen and get in there and check for cracks............ sounds like you my friend just got hit by the KDP
