New dana 70...How much?

I'm toying with the idea of looking into getting a new dana 70 rear either from the dealer or whatever. What should something like this set me back???

I've looked for matches on ebay, craigslist, salvage yards, and a couple forums and have had no luck...so that leaves me with 3 options. Install a new ring and pinion in my current rear myself, risking error. Paying someone to install the new ring and pinion in my existing housing...or buy a new axle. Obviously i havent decided on one or the other yet but i'm exploring my options cause whatever I end up doing I need it to be done rather quickly but at the same time, correctly.

Thanks for any help!!

If your looking to upgrade at all, a Dana 80 out of a 5-spd non dually truck will swap out pretty easy if you can locate one. Just needs to have the same gear ratio as your truck. Only modification you would have to make would have the driveshaft shortened I believe, since the 80 is a bit larger, but you would have alot stouter rear end.

Yeah i've looked everywhere for a 70 or 80, in both srw and drw with no luck aside from newer used 3rd gen axles for over 1k each, and i figure if i'm gonna pay that much i'll just go new...

Anyways, gearjammer....If that would be a direct bolt-in to my truck, how much shipped to 20874?

Only disadvantage to a drw axle is the fact that it is narrower than a srw, im thinking srw is 67" wms - wms and a dually rear is closer to 63". Check other forums out as well, Ive seen 80's for $500 before, but I realize your in a bit of a rush, so you might just have to bite the bullet. Where are you located?
