Need some Tranny advise

My tranny gave up on the way to work yesterday. Started "flaring" on the 2-3 shift and then from the next stop it would barley budge. I'm not sure what exactly thr problem is but I think it's safe to assume it needs to be replaced.

The problem is this comes right before my wife and I purchase a new home so money is very tight. I could afford a new goerend or ATS, but I would like to keep it under 4000 (I'm gonna need to have someone install it since it's 20 degress heere now). I was thinking that I may be able to find a new/rebuilt tranny and add a TC and valve body, but that brings me to 1,500. Any advise or do I need to just bite the bullet here?

you might give DTT a call, they are another really good name in diesel tranny's and might be able to save you some money because they have guys all over the country that they work with on dodge trannys.

Well a lot depends on what your future plans are with the truck.
What application the trans will need to withstand will make a big variance on the price of the build and what you can get away with.
