Do you have to replace the whole unit?, or just the Float. There is a lot of backyard fixes out there to save some money.
My float was eroded away alittle on the sides and I decided to put some Epoxy on it and re-seal it. so far it is working. It might be that the contact surface is coated, and needs cleaning for good contact. Check the ohmm reading to check and see if this is working. Replace the hoses?

Not usre if it can be repaired

Thanks for the info...I'm not sure if it can be repaired, I havent taken it apart yet. It has been dead for a while and I am just fixing various things on the truck. In the process now of replacing a high pressure fuel line on cyl.#1 when I can find the part. I probably need to replace the fuel lines too and figured I would do it all at once.

Might be a bad connection on the tank. Lift the bed or- drop the tank. Its fun either way. Parts-Dealer, might try some of the other sources out there. Mopar for less etc.

part number as follows

I got the sending unit from the local dealer ($60) and the part number is 4797738 for 1996 CTD. Dont forget to get the gasket the goes under the locking ring on the top of the tank.
