Need help with front brake hoses

Heres the story. I just bought a 1996 dodge 3500 dually 5 speed 4x4 and went to get an inspection on it so that I can license it. It failed the inspection for a missing muffler and the front left and right brake hoses. The guy told me that the brakehoses were routed wrong so that when I would turn it kinks the hose and causes stress to it. I got it home and started looking at it and when the steering wheel is turned all the way to one side I can see nowhere that it is kinking up. I took it back up there and talked to another mechanic and he said that he didnt know exactly which ways they are supposed to be routed but nothing looked wrong with it to him and that he would pass it. Unfortunately i didnt have the muffler on there yet so I have to wait until monday to do it. My brother has a 95 2500and his is routed the exact same way so I am wondering if this tool at the auto shop is wrong or if somehow mine and my brother's trucks are routed wrong. I thought I would post some pictures and see if anyone has any input on it. This is the drivers side brake. Thanks in advance for the help. John

It does look to me like someone put an extra "loop" into the brake line the last time the calipers were off and bent part of the bracket down. The extra loop will shorten the effective length of the brake line and "could" cause it pull at the end where the crimp is. I would look to see if you can find evidence of the bracket having been bent back, and would bend it back up, remove the caliper, and put it back on so the brake line just makes a nice peak in the middle. Here are a couple pictures of mine with how the brake line is originally run.

Mine looks like that. I bought new hoses, because of the age of the old ones, and they installed looking like that. I have no problems with mine. I would jack up the front end, and have someone turn the wheel left and right, lock to lock, while you watch and see what it does.

Hey guys thanks for the replies. I have turned the wheels while it was on the ground and it doesnt look like it affects it at all but ill jack her up and see what it does. Im not going to worry about it for now i guess since the other guy said he will pass it but I just wanted to make sure I wasnt going to be towing down the highway one day and the brakes go out for this reason. Thanks for all the help guys.

Isn't a turbo considered a muffling device? Or just around here?

Ha I guess not. The same guy passed my other truck with no muffler or anything. Just 5 inch straight pipe. So I guess he just needed a fail for a day.

That's what I understood, some states consider the turbo as a muffler device.

That would be nice if it was like that here in missouri. Its becoming a pain to get a vehicle that is straight piped to pass.
