Mystery fluid leak

So for the last few weeks I've had a slow drip from the gasket where the extension housing meets the transmission in my truck. I first noticed it while I was on a road trip, so I stopped and got some fluid and poured it in through the shifter hole just to make sure I had enough (I wasn't really in a good position to climb underneath and do it properly). Due to not having time to fix it I haven't been driving it much and I've kept an eye on the leak to make sure it was still dripping.

The other day I came out (I had it parked in a different spot at my apartments just so they didn't tow it thinking it was inop) and it was completely dry under the truck. I naturally assumed that all of the fluid had leaked out so I climbed underneath to add fluid properly, and the extra fluid that I had poured in through the shifter came out of the fill plug when I removed it! So I began thinking that it must be the transfer case (although it didn't look like ATF), and when I went to add fluid to that it was full too. I then checked the engine oil (just to make sure that it wasn't leaking from somewhere else and dripping from the transmission) and it was fine, as was the clutch fluid and everything else I can think of. 4 days later and it is still dry under my truck (other than what I drained out when I removed the plug)... and ideas besides a leak just magically disappearing???
