MPG?'s

I just got this 97 3500

Its the first that I've had with 4.10's in it does 12-13 MPG sound right.

Granted it is a 4x4 ect cab with a steel flat I guess I just wasn't thinkin when I thought it would get better.

That does seem a little low.At what speed?I get between 18 and 20MPG(Canadian gallon) at 70MPH.You would think you should get about 16 to 18MPG(US)

Seems low, make sure you know the condition of the fuel filter and the pre-filter, mine jumped 2-3 MPG when I got the clogged filter out of there. Try and keep it below 2000 RPMs also.

Also, since it is new to you, you may want to dose it heavy a couple of times with PS to help clean out the Injectors.

Yea I don't know. Mine isn't getting all that great fuel economy either. Depends on how fast you drive it. Keep it between 60-65 on the freeway and then see what you get. There's lots of folks getting 21 mpg on the highway, but remember the truck you have is probably the least fuel efficient of all Dodge Ram Cummins made due to weight, friction, auto, and 4x4. BTW, running no plate might have something to do with it too..

running a bigger tire size makes your figures off also,I have no idea what I get exactly but it adds up to 10.4 mpg usually. but I have 315's and cant figure out what the percentage differance should be. because the faster I drive the more the speedometer is off.

excuse the stupid question, but what makes the 12v get worse mileage than the 24v? I hear that the 24s get 20-25mpg easy. Once again excuse my stupidity, im new to the cummins
