Mileage, AGAIN!
What kind of mileage are you guys with 4x4's getting. My 95 is an automatic with 3:54 rear. When it was new it would get around 23 on the road and 17 in town. Now I get 16 all the time. It's not winter fuel, been ding this since last spring.<br>Has a new K&N air filter, valves just adjusted, fuel filter changed every 6K miles. Runs fine. Just sucks down fuel.<br><br>I am cutting off the cat and putting in a pipe tomorrow. Anyone have any ideas, Suggestions?<br><br>Thanks<br><br>Gary

I'll check the fuel lines, but I haven't noticed anything and was just undr it the otherday.<br><br>Pappy, any idea, approximately, what it costs to have the timing set?
Re:Mileage, AGAIN!
Most places I've checked want $250 to time the engine. I do know CS charged me, 6 years ago, $155.00 to adj my valves. Now I save me that much. <br><br> "I am my own service center."<br><br><br>..Preston..

Just for grins...check all your turbo hose's and clamps also...and I pull my turbo intake hose off once in awhile to check and be sure my K&N filters not leaking grit by the seal :P

Been steadily dropping, along w/power & lots of white smoke on cold days. Now gets ~16 hwy, 13.5 town, worse when temps below freezing. My p7100 pump needs retimed, but not had time for it. Not going to Cummins/Charlotte, so guess it's Roanoke or Knoxville, or somewhere else. Cummins shops here don't want to work on pickups (don't blame 'em).<br><br>Scott
Re:Mileage, AGAIN!
19.5mpg all the time unless towing. I have a 97 2500 standard cab and it's all stock, accept the lack of a cat. I haven't had a good road trip to measure the freeway mileage.
Re:Mileage, AGAIN!
Summer 22 to 24 MPG Highway and 18 City and 16 towing.<br><br>Winter 19 to 21 MPG highway and 17 city and 14 to 15 towing. Winter blend fuel but using Lund front grill covers.
Re:Mileage, AGAIN!
My nieghbors truck (94 4x4 5spd 3:54) Is doing the same thing. I adjusted the valves for him with moderate improvement. About a month later I was talking to my new friend at the local diesel shop(15 year cummins tech). He told me timing might help but it was most likely what he called an overflow valve in the injector pump leaking. I told my nieghbor to go in to fix it, to no avail. So I have no post repair data to give yet. I guess I'll have to learn from my friend how to do it and take care of my nieghbor. He's a little on the tight side.

Shire:<br> If your going to Knoxville see City Diesel on the north side of town. I forget the exit no. Something like 210.Their mechanics know the 12V and timed mine for a lot less than I would expected. Set it at 16.<br><br> Try them. While your there look at their 12V Cummins Ford. Turned into a nice install.<br><br>..Preston..

I missed that one. What kind of Ford? <br>Thanks,<br>Scott
