Lower Engine Oil Leak

I have a 1996 12v with 174k on it, and I know it is normal for older trucks to leak a little bit of oil. But I just do not like leaving drips of oil everywhere I go. At first I replaced the Drain plug because the old one was cracked...I also replaced the rubber washer that goes with it. I does not appear any oil is leaking from there as I have it as tight as possible. Where do you guys think its coming from.... My best guess is the oil pan gasket has failed and it is just barely coming out form where the gasket meets the block...and the seal between the gasket and pan has failed. What do you guys think, thanks alot, Tom.

It sure could be a oil pan gasket.
Have you cleaned it up just to make sure the oil is not coming from above the oil pan?
Timing cover?
Vac pump oil line?
Rear seal?

I had leaks until I stopped by a cummins dealer and picked up a OEM drain plug with its build in o'ring. Problem solved.

So, just curious but have you done your KDP?

My '01 had a cracked drain plug, years ago.
I ordered the heavy duty magnetic drain plug from Geno's...problem solved.

Clean it off real good with brake clean and see where it reappears. Hard to guess on a leak. It could be from dozens of places.
