Looking for a Cummins....

I have another thread started in the 2nd Gen performance forum but this is a 12v question. I am looking for a Cummins to do a build up. I have not decoded if I want to go 12v, 24v 2nd Gen, or 3rd Gen. I do know that I will be using to tow my 9k camper maybe 12 times a year. So for towing it really isn't that much. I do really like the adjustability you get with the electronics but I also like the old school mechanical 12v pumps.

Which brings me to my question....There are a few on the web and one I am currious about is on Ebay, it is a 96'. I am wondering if the engine ID plate says 215hp on a 96'....Is that a 913 pump? I have read someplace that a 215hp pump already has the cam in it to run big fuel.

I thought only the 97.5-98.5 had the 913 pumps.

Thanks,
Brent.

Not too sure about a "913" pump, I know my 1996 5-speed 215 hp engine has a P-7100 pump on it. I hope someone else can speak on the "913" pump.

Don't quote me on that "913" thing. I have been a Powerstroke guy since 95'. I'm trying to become a Cummins guy too but I obviouisly need to learn alot. I found another thread on the P7100 pumps here and it seams like there is alot of confusion on these pumps (160, 180, 215) have for cams in them.

I alsways did here though that the 215 pump is the one you want to make the most power. Not saying that a 180 or 160 can't make any power. Just that the 215 is the one that is prefered to start with.

Since I haven't bought yet, I can wait for the correct year, model, and pump.

What years should I be looking for to get the best pump with the best internals for big power...96-98.5?

Thanks,
Brent.

913 would be a modified pump. 215 pump can make lots and lots of power without mods to the pump. They were in 5 speeds 96-98.4 (up until the 24V). Autos had the 180 pump.

Look at my sig, with the plate full forward I think I am around 375+ at wheels with a little work, not even injectors. Made 350 with the plate 3/4 forward and gained 4lbs of boost when I moved the plate all the way forward.

Good luck and have fun
