Leaking fuel lines?
Leaking fuel lines?
How can you tell if you have a leak in the fuel lines? I keep reading about possible return line leaking and everything. I have replaced my fuel lines with the USCG approved line, but when I pump my lift pump, like after replacing my fuel filter, it takes a lot of pumps to hear the OF valve relieving pressure. I guess I just don't know what is normal. I started the truck and it started fine. If I let it sit for a while, and pump the lift pump, it takes exactly four pumps before the relief valve relieves fuel pressure on the return line. Is this normal? Every pump immediately after that activates the relief valve. If I wait 10 or 15 minutes, it takes 4 pumps again.
Thanks for any advice. I cannot find any leaks, I just don't know what is considered normal and I think I read too much and get paranoid.

If when you start the truck it starts with out a lot of cranking, you don't have a leak. I have a 96 and have replaced the return line twice in 144,000 miles. You can tell when it startts leaking. It gets harder and harder to start the truck. Finally it just won't start without many pushes on the lift pump.
