kdp/ timing case $
kdp/ timing case $
how much should it cost after the kdp falls out if the only thing messed up is the case. i called the chrystler dealer today and they said $820 from what ive heard that is pretty low?
That seems really low to me. The labor alone should be way more than that. Getting the cover off the case is easy but getting the case of requires either pulling the cam or the gear. 30 hours seems to be a good estimate for do it yourselfers so I would doubt the dealership would do it much quicker than 20 which would cost probably $1500 in labor alone if not a lot more.
With labour, that sounds pretty **** good!
I've heard 2k... but I think that included all parts, and used the method of removing the camshaft, instead of removing the gear from the camshaft.

got a call back from the shop today they want 2700 for labor and arround 600 for parts. case and gaskets only. i think im gonna do it my self. that way i can get all the special tools i wanted anyways.
I just took my front of my timing case apart and luckily it was just cracked around the edge. i made my own contrption to hold the KDP in and i JB welded the timing case really well and have 30,000 miles since i did it and not a single oil leak. forget buying a new one cummins should replace that for less than those outrageous prices, if they have such high dollar engineers they should have seen that that was going to be a problem way ahead of time. I know i would have figured out that it would walk its self out with all the heating and cooling that goes on around there.
