Timing Case Gasket and KDP

Alright guys, for those of you that have fixed the KDP, did you go with a new timing case gasket, re-use the gasket or just use some RTV to seal it??

Thx.

Wink kdp

I bought another gasket from Cummins {$30 roughly} and used the high temp grey silicone to re-seal it, it's cheap insurance not to leak, make sure your bolts are tight too..that helps

I used both,

The RTV sealant and the ultra grey, problem was with that KDP kit, that they dont give you enough of either or, so i went and bought some more ultra grey at the autoparts store three blocks from home...

My original gasket was in pretty good shape, so i reused it... Also the tight bolts help too...

Goin in for the kill Dr.?
I used a set that I got from PDR that had a new gasket/tab/crankseal with installer.
Very cheap. I also used the RTV for a added measure and to hold the gasket in place while putting it back together.

The TST kit works great, I just used sealent. So far, no leaks, everything holding well. Just make sure all surfaces are clean.

I use a new gasket and seal. Then I know I won't have to go back in there for a long time.
Dr.- what year's your truck? If I remember, they deleted the gasket on the 24 valves, and went to an RTV seal.

Dr Evil, you can. Like is a diesel repair shop to the tune of about $2400.00.

But when you go in, replace the crank seal, gasket, with no sealant. It's not necessary and just make a mess.

I toss the gasket even if it's in good shape and use just RTV.

I bought the gasket from Cummins, not too pricey, seems to be working great. I used RTV on the cover side of the seal.

I just bought the seal from Cummins and made the tab. Silicone for the cover, my 24 valve did not have a gasket.
