KDP Question Pretty sure mine went for a ride...
Good luck in your experiment... But you should consider that your PS/Vac pump combo and your injection pump can now move relative to the other gears like on the cam and crankshaft.
This can lead to unintended consequences.
Wastegate stuck open- would lead to sluggish spoolup creating smoke. I'd try to wiggle the wastegate until it moves freely and is completely closed.
Then add a boost elbow to increase the boost that starts opening the wastegate.
Welding it shut is a dumb idea in my opinion, you lose flow on the top end, have unnecessary high EGTs, risk overspooling and grenading your turbo and you lose power and fuel efficiency.

Freed up the gate moved a 1/4 inch shut then I went to **** with my pump and found that the hard boost line to the pump vibrated and cracked off. Sautered it back together and screamed tire for 10ft until the clutch had enough so.. I’ve found the problem.
What’s a good clutch for towing I don’t want a full ceramic for putting around the farm but I want the strength of one for towing. Any suggestions? Probably won’t get to it until this winter but anyhow while I’ve got a pretty good thread going I figured I’ll ask.
