I have a oil leak timing housing to engine block. I started taking it apart and found that I don't have a KDP. also my housing looks different than others that I have seen photos of. A flat tab wont work becouse the bolt next to the KDP is deeper in the houseing. also I found all the bolts are loose. can I get bywith a retorque. I realy dont want to pull the cam but it looks like some of the bolts are behind the cam gear???

so what ur saying is the KDP struck and cracked the housing? You should get another Dowel pin if u can't find urs in ur oil pan, locktite and re-torque the case bolts, and if it's cracked and leaking like u said, U need to replace it.

Sorry I was not very clear. The dow is MIA but there is no damage. Just a oil leak from behind the housing becouse of loose bolts. I was reading other posts. some people just retorque the bolts and put it back together. But are any of the bolts behind the cam gear ?? Thanks

see photos the bolt next to the dow is deeper in the housing than the face of the dow hole. Also are there bolt under any of the gears?? If so I am sure thay will need to be torqued to.

theres 2 bolts that u can locktite and tighten that are behind one of the gears. www.tstproducts.com has instructions for doing the dowel fix, it will show u where the 2 bolts are. You should also get a new dowel pin to put in there because it does serve a purpose. Ur Dowel most likely fell out and cracked the case thats why theres a leak, but i guess let us know once u tigheten it up if it still leaks.

Thanks! how do I get to the two behind the gear? I was thinking that maybe the housing has been replaced. but the dow was not. My case looks different than the one on the TST site. Look at my photo of the dow hole and the bolt hole next to it. then look at the one on TST

you rotate the engine and get to the bolts through the little "windows" in the cam gear.

Looks like a normal case to me.
Also appears to be a dowel pin in the hole.

Bill,

Are you sure? looks raised to me. As if where the head of the bolt contacts the cover is on a different plane than the KDP hole.

It looks like someone already changed a cracked cover to a cover with a new design.
