KDP killed and valves adjusted

Did them both at the same time. I bought the TST KDP kit and it worked good.

I went ahead and took the radiator completely out. It give a lot more room and I didn't have to worry about damaging the radiator.

The pin was just barely poking out.....maybe 1/16" and the truck has 208,000 miles.

Now I can sleep at night

After reading a thread about what can happen if the KDP is not killed I would not have been able to sleep at all! WOW!

I noticed the kit comes with a tube of rtv and no front cover gasket. I checked with cummins and there $25.00 seems to me i'd be better off to do it right with the gasket?

No need to replace the gasket

I used the RTV sealant that came with the kit, however i went and bought some more of the stuff, if you really get it even and lather it good on there, you will not have any leaks. Also try and tighten the bolts equally, I did that and have not had any problems..

Tx

It's really easy to do, especially with the TST instructions and pictures.

I'd recommend taking the radiator out even though TST's directions don't require it.

I didn't use a cover gasket....just the RTV. FWIW, I think I could've reused the original cover gasket. I didn't damage it when I peeled it off the cover.
