Hi All.
I just bought a 97 2500 4x4 Auto Quad cab it has 134k miles
I really need some help to get the KDP fixed, I saved for years to pay for this truck and dont want this to end it for me. if there is anyone in my area who can help with loaning the jig kit or doing the fix please let me know. if not could you direct me to the person who makes the kit. I've been reading these fourms for a while trying to learn about these trucks and I aint even close.
thanks Yall

Harold Bowers made the jig I use, his email is rvhvnfn@juno.com I believe. Make sure you get his fan wrenches, they are a must and a great deal, too. Or if you have any business that brings you near the Philly area I'll fix it for you.

what are the fan wrebches for??
personally I'm having my diesel shop DIS do the KDP fix but they are actually going to remove the timing cover and check everthing over and fix any leaks then put a #10 plate on 4000 GSK and 60lb valve springs a pyro gauge boost 60lb gauge all installed parts and labor $1260. parts are $800 alone and they will do a professional job and all required adjustments

For getting the fan off. The fan is threaded directly onto the fan hub, and it's reverse thread so the engine rotation tightens it. The fan nut is pretty big, but not very wide, and there's not really any good way to hold the fan hub. Harold's fan wrenches are cut out of steel plate so they fit in the narrow space. One fits the fan nut, and the other one is cut in sort of a flower shape to fit around the bolts that hold the fan pulley on. Works great for getting the fan off, much neater than the ol' hammer and punch trick.
