I've searched, and tried, but how the heck do I fix 5th in my nv4500 2wd
Like I said for about two days now I have been searching here, the net, other sites and still can't find a concrete solution to fix my nv4500 5th gear nut problem? all the fixes I find are for the 4wd, im thinking if my nut is still good I may just tap some set screws into it and loctite the hell out of it but I really don't know? If i totally missed something by all means tell me but i'm really strugglin on this one.....

5th gear problems
Check with quad 4x4 out of roberts montana.I've been down that road with the 5th gear problem and drilling and tapping the nut for set screws wont hold that gear.Once that gear comes off thats it.Set screws and locktight will hold for a while but not forever. Some people weld that nut on and claim that holds.Quad 4x4 has all the parts to correct the problem and explains the problem to length.I bought their upgrade mainshaft kit and that was the end of my problems.Norm

Quad 4x4's fix is the only way if you want to fix the problem once and for all but someone was saying they don't have the kit anymore.
If that's truly the case http://www.standardtransmission.com/dodge.html has a similar fix for about the same price.
Most other fixes do it with nut improvements when the real problem is the shaft.

Nv4500
Thanks for the tip I called the place in Montana a few weeks ago and they no longer sell the NV4500 Fix. However the new post for standard transmission sells the kit I just called them and they seem like nice folks located in Fort Worth Texas.
Thanks Kerry
