Its Melted

Well We got home and took the head of and the #1 was melted down. Going to rebuild the motor and looking at getting a Dodgezilla turbo with a 14mm housing. Any info on this turbo will help. Current mods are #5 fuel plate and 18 deg timing advance. I have pics but do not know how to post them.

Wow that didnt take much.. how hot were you running and for how long?
My tuner is pushing me towards a phat shaft 66 with this truck. Hes raced the 12v's with a similar setup and says hes had good results with that turbo and lots of fuel. Im of a mind to look into twins. Those BD twins look mighty tasty

I love my dodgezilla turbo and it spools like crazy with the 12 Cm housing. EGTs are in check with the 6 plate also. I can see 40 PSI and cruise around town with 4-5 lbs. I suck the filter minder to redline with a fresh filter! Cruise EGTs at 70 are around 650 degrees. With the 14 wg housing it smoked like crazy and built boost slower than a turtle. I would expect your 180 pump to respond similiar to my 175. If you have any specifics I can try to answer them for ya.

I was going to use a non wg housing. Should I use the 12 wg housing. I have had the wg unplugged for 6 months. I don't really plan on going any higher on this truck. With the new torque converter thats on order and the shift kit it will spin the rear end around on hard pavement before you know what hit ya. The pics are in the gallery as soon as there approved.

I got my turbo used with the 14 housing on it. I tried it and didnt like it much. I towed a car for my neighbor with it and I didnt like were the EGTs were and I was blowing black constantly. Empty cruise at 60 MPH was 2 psi. I couldnt see 20lbs of boost till 3rd gear WOT. The 12 housing spools about as fast as the stock turbo. I think the initial spool is a slit second slower but it builds the boost way faster. Personally I would send your turbo in and have it modified. The company that makes the Dodgezilla will upgrade the wheel for around $300. Same turbo except that you use yours instead of getting another. Your truck is already down so it isnt like you need it to get to work while the turbos being modded.

Ok I will look into that. I was pulling a 6% grade when the turbo let go and it melted before I could get over on the side.
