Exclamation Installed 3K GSK and now it revs but is really down on power???

Ok its a 97 2500 slt ex cab 4x4 it has a banks power pack and mbrp 4 inch exhaust it was runnig great today and I decided I would install my 3K gsk so a few hours later and a lot of sweating I got it back together fired it up and it was idling a little high....not much right under a grand so I bumped down the idle and checked everything and went on a test drive felt good in the driveway then got on the highway let it warm up and stopped and cranked it up.... well I was really disappointed, it goes but not very fast and only makes about 28 lbs of boost and takes forever to get there before it would go from 10 to 34/35 lbs of boost like it was nothing. It revs really easy to 3200 in gear but isnt making any power or boost.....nothing like it was before. I'm lost couldn't find any boost leaks and I had a boost leak a few years ago and I could here a little hiss and then it turned into a whistle but even then I could still make 28 lbs of boost easy enough can some one please help I'll listen to anything and if more info is needed just ask

yes I measured the stud protrusion on both sets I'm at .060 to .062 and like I said it idles good and revs good and smooth but there's just a serious lack of boost and no real power....it will free rev to 3200 really easy but I haven't turned anymore than that because I'm still on stock valve springs but I don't understand why I'm not making the boost like I was and it never really comes into any power....I can barely get my egt's to 900 where as before I would get them up to 1250 1300 very easily in the top of third......I'm lost is there anyway the banks fuel plate is hurting me like this I don't know why it would change it on the bottom side but is like it has a massive boost leak......does anyone know where I can buy a set of intake gaskets for a banks twin ram just in case thats it?

what plate are you running? whose GSK did you install? any chance you could have compromised the signal line to the AFC housing? pull the AFC lever and see how she does.

the governor section of these pumps is black magic to me... sounds like you got the installed height spot on. you sure you got all the shims and such out? I had a truck that supposedly had a 3k kit in it, and it would rev to 3k no problem, but I tried to upgrade it to a 4k and found it was some odd hodge-podge concoction with shims and such.

I put a true 4k kit in it, and it fueled SO much harder on the bottom end, I couldn't believe it!

I would check and see if the shut off solenoid is going up all the way. Just bump the key and leave it on and check it, sometimes when playing around with them the can get alittle sticky. I have seen that a time or too.

its the pdr 3K kit and I took the intake off to get to the pump I have a banks twin ram intake and it is huge and in the way of everything...but I noticed the gaskets were a little funny lookin and it looked as if there was some boost getting by the rear one, I only saw this cause I took the intake off to move the fuel plat full forward and thats what I did today but it didn't do much. Its a little better but not much I can make about 27 lbs of boost now but still along ways from where I was before. and I had my roomate bump the key and I checked the fuel solinoid is all the way up .......I don't know what to say I'm going to check the fuel pressure??? I don't know I'm about to go crazy

Shouldn't the stud portrusion be closer to 0.040 - 0.050"? I believe stock is 0.050". Not sure what the instructions say for the gsk kit. Does the truck smoke at all now?

just a thought but is it possible that it moved the lever on the fuel plate enough that it might be hanging up. Pull the afc and check where it hits the plate??

I'm going to check that out later today I did notice today on the way to work if I keep the pedal about 3/4 of an inch of the floor it will make 30 lbs but if I floor it it will only make 26 to 27.........so now I'm really confused

if you took off the afc housing you could have cracked the boost signal line to the afc a little. but that wouldnt make sense if you can get 30 lbs of boost at 3/4 throtle i would think to check the lever for the furl plate as well.

I'm going to check the line real good and I'm thinking about gutting the AFC but I'm not sure...but I am going to grind my old stock fuel plate to match a drawing that brad ponchi from fortuna,CA gave me and see if its any better and I might play with the gov springs some more ad I'm going to check the gov arm adjustments to.....I'm about to call in some outside help but I'll try all this weekend before I give up and call for hands on help....I want to say thanks to everyone thats gave me advice so far
