Injectors

I'm a little confused on something, I know there is a difference in the pumps between a 1998 auto (185 hp) and a 1998 manual (215 hp), but are the stock injectors different or the same?

Different...

IIRC these are the sizes
160hp = 5x.0900
175/180hp = 5x.0950
215hp = 5x.0105

What do the #s (after the HP ratings) mean ??

How can one tell if a truck still has OEM injectors (or not) ???

thats the number of spray holes and the size of the holes in the injector. i guess you can tell if you have stock injectors by looking for evidence of stock injectors being removed (marks on injector nuts) or by how hard it fuels. do you clear up the smoke at wot? stock turbo?

Yea, it does clear up at WOT.

Pulls like a freight train but seems to lose Torque after 3k or so. Has LOTS of power, but I NEED more!

It's a stock Turbo for all I know. Not sure how to verify that either. I bought the truck with most of the mods already on it.

Mods in Sig below.

You asked about how you can check to see what size injectors you have.
You can pull one out and look at the number of holes and then size the hole with the proper sized wire gauge.

Snap-On makes a gauge to do that.

Good point John. I'll try that.

Katmandu:

Make sure you have a Cummins 5.9 12V Injector "puller" to get them out. If they have been in there awhile in my experiences they are HARD to get out without a puller. Make sure you clean all the dirt from around the injector BEFORE taking them out. Also, use new rubber washers at the top and I think the torque on the injector is 44 ft.lbs. but I will check on that for you.

Hope that helps you some buddy!

Don't have one of those.

Does this site have a "Pay-it-Forward" Tool loaner program ???

just get a piece of 3/4 in steel pipe 1.5 inches long... put over the injector, and take off a lug nut on your front tire , its the same thread as the injector uses, and use that to pull the injectors. works great and easy and best part, its cheap
