Idles too slow and harder to start now
1998 2wd 2500 CTD quad cab dead stock all the way
It has become hard to start without giving it a little pedal. Once it is started it tries to die if you lift your foot off quickly. If you take your foot off slow, it will stay running. It is only idling around 500 when you first start. Once she's warmed up, it idles around 750 in Drive with A/C on.
Is my normal idle too slow and that is causing my sloooow idle and hard starting now that it is much cooler outside?
If I am thinking right, this would be a simple adjustment of the idle stop? It appears that the air heaters are working okay.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

yes,simple adjustment,the linkage wears over time. Its pretty hard to get to it though,at the drivers side rear of engine,you will need a 10mm wrench or 2,a scrwdriver,and some patience.A little does a lot,just a 1/2 turn will make a big difference.

You could also be due for valve adjustment, and replacement of rubber fuel lines, or even the overflow valve could be starting to go.

Helps to have long arms for this one
But Forrest is absolutely right.. I have a stubby 10mm wrench that i use for the bottom bolt and a regular craftsman 10 mm for the top, an idle adjustment becomes second nature having done enough of them, much like changing a fuel filter...

I have mine idling at 900 or so RPMS with AC off... starts like a charm everytime.. no mirror rattle either...
