idle problems

a while back my idle had slippd to about 750 in park so i bumpd it up to around 900-950; when it was at 750 an i put it in drive it would drop enough to almost kill the truck and sometimes did. Well my idle is down some now when its in park not a lot but some, and when in drive its at 750 maybe a little lower, anyways it still wants to bog the truck down some and wantn to kill it. Does anyone know what i should look at for this problem? Fuel filter? it was just change a year ago, any opinions are helpful

I see you have a 4k GSK kit installed... there are some idle misteries with it!

but with stock springs, i found out, if the governor springs are too thight, it idles high, then cuz of that, the idle screw has to set lower... causing very low power at idle...

i did this with a few trucks, i backed the nut on the Governor springs a click or two. and then turned up the idle screw a bit... has worked great with me!

i definitly think that is your problem!!!

(Found this out with tightening the GSK, for more RPM, I turned down the idle, then the truck got killed when putting it in drive. ) so i think the idle screw turned up helps to fuel more at idle, and llloser GSK for right idle.

yup, I would! at least if it would be the stock springs! it could help with the 4k in it too! i really think it would! let me know, if you try it! The only way to know is to find out!

have you ever removed the afc? if, its easy for you, you can do it right through there... just take out the plate, and turn the motor untill you see the springs facing up! then with a long flat screwdriver loosen them up...

but if you loosen them up, you will probably have to higher the idle some... that exactly is the reason of doing it! with higher idle screw = you have more fuel = more power at idle = wont kill so easy!

looser springs means less idle
thighter springs means more idle

PS: I havent messed a whole lot with 4k GSK, but when i did, i once had a hanging up problem at around 2k rpm! cuz: I had the springs a little too loose, and highered the idle! you find out!

oh: there is another idle screw on the back of the pump... the one on the top.... But i dont know how that afects...
