I have developed a howling noise that sounds like its coming from the turbo....Everything is running fine and it boost like normal...any ideas?

 

have you checked the shaftplay of the turbo

 

no...its a brand new turbo...not that that really matters. I will check it tomorrow. I think it may be a boost leak somewhere.

 

i gonna say look arrround the inlet and look for rub marks. i baught a brand new hx35/40 hybrid and it had a bent shaft from the box

 

Have you changed your intake lately? I noticed a howl as well when I went to a BHAF. I just assumed it was air rushing into it. Does yours come in under high boost only? Mine does it when I'm mashing it and sounds like it's coming from the turbo or BHAF.

Let us know what you learn. A boost leak is great to check for anyways, I've been meaning to run down the street to Cummins where they'll pressure test my system for $32. They claim to find leaks in the intercooler fairly often, causing poor fuel mileage but not noticeable on your boost gauge. A recent new tranny took my mileage from 8 to 16!
