how to use lock-up switch......?
I'm thinking of doing this tonight, after much consideration- it just seems worth it to me. I've been reading a few do's and donts concerning the operation of them. Anybody care to explain how to use this? from acceleration, deceleration, stopping, when to turn on and off, etc....
It's also real nice to use a relay to switch the lock circuit to ground rather than just a switch by itself. That way, you can use a switch with a light in it to help you remember that it's locked.
I am not sure how your's is wired Yello Yota, but I put an LED on mine. Went to the lock up switch then to a 12vdc source for the other side. When the switch picks up a ground to lock TC it also gives a 12vdc path through the LED. No problem for the lock up, as the LED uses such a small amount of power. Does get a little bright at night as no dimmer is on LED.
Locked shifts will break your input shaft with much power. I did it for a long time. I never broke anything doing it with the stock converter. A while after i put my goerend in it though, I twisted the stock input in half doing locked shifts.
3rd and 4th gears are the best place to lock it. A lot of the time i turn my O/D off and when i get to 3rd I lock it, pull through 3rd, let off, shift to O/D and accelerate again. I dont worry too much about locked shifts with my billet input now though.
