Just bought a '96 w/ 287,xxx miles. White smoke at start-up and under throttle when not up to full temp, low power too. Injectors? or some fuel pressure issue. Also got a '98 this month with 106,xxx miles on it. sheetmetal is rusted out but drivetrain is great....The perfect donor for my old '85 crew cab. Both are nv-4500 and are still on there first clutch.

I drive 650-800 miles nearly every day that I'm on the road. My record day's driving was 1145 miles. Normally I drive from Syracuse, In. to Langley, B.C. once a week and back, 2350 miles each way, but I have also delivered in Ponchatoula, La. at 8 AM and laid down to sleep in Syracuse, In, 953 miles away @ midnight the same day. Ya don't make money trashin' around truckstops. When ya snooze, ya lose. Every year I log 180k-190k miles. My truck has to be a workhorse; it pays all my bills.
Rochester, NY to Orlando, FL in 17.5 hours.

Records are relative, and I'll bet you were not towing. I woke up early one morning (about 5:00 AM) in Pecos, Tx. and delivered in San Bernardino, CA (959 miles) at 5:45 that evening. I did have the benefit of two times zones but that is negated by California's 55 mph speed limit while towing.
