How to check the TPS and TC lockup problems
I've read a couple of posts on how to check and clean the TPS and I think I did it right but I'm not sure.
Ok I pulled to TPS drilled the hole and sprayed it with contact cleaner, shook out as much as I could and let it set in the sun for a while to let it dry completely and sealed the hole. After a test drive the converter still "seemed" to come out of full lock if I tried to accelerate very much at all. (The tranny could be slipping on me)
So I pulled the TPS to check voltage, two of the wires gave me 5.13v when unplugged from the TPS and I believe the other was ground.
When connected to the TPS the center wire gave me 1.2v off throttle and as I turned the TPS with a screw driver it slowly increased to 5.13v as I moved it up to WOT.
The reason I believe it might be slipping as opposed to the TC unlocking is that the first time I towed a large load after putting the #10 plate in it towed like a dream. The next time I towed the same load it didn't seem to pull it as well and now it feels like it is either slipping a little or the TC is unlocking on me with just a little throttle.
Thanks for all your help.

Sounds like you have to adjust it on the truck.

Adjust the linkage ends so you can get the right voltage (1.0) + or- a tad then make sure you can get WOT with the trucks off (block of wood....another person) if you can then with the throttle on the floor check the TV arm on the tranny and make sure it's within the 1/8th to 3/16's of an inch from being bottomed out....adjust if needed, if you don't have that adjustment right then you will not have the line pressure rise that you need and the shift points will not be right. Now having said that if you make an adjustment to one of the three you should look at the others as all three work together, if after you do this and it still isn't right then push the steel inserts out of the TPS and/or elongate the holes....hope this helps you.
